Welcome to Saint Rose of Lima Parish!

Mission Statement:
Be a friend of Jesus, Make a Friend, Introduce your friend to Jesus.

Our Parish
St. Rose of Lima Parish was founded in 1848 to care for the Irish immigrants who were settling in the town of Meriden.  After 166 years, it still maintains a prominent and vital presence within the community.  With the influx of other cultures, the parish continues to provide spiritual guidance and support of our sisters and brothers who have come to make the town of Meriden, the State of Connecticut, the United States of America, their home.

We are a multicultural community dedicated to providing a welcoming and faith-filled experience for all who wish to worship in the Roman Catholic Rite of Christianity.  Our Mission statement (above) reminds us to never lose heart in our faith endeavors.  Our Mission statement reflects the spirit of St. Rose of Lima: "Live the Moment for God."

Thank you for visiting us at St. Rose of Lima and may God give you the Peace of Christ, always.

Coat of Arms for St. Rose of Lima Church in Meriden, CT

    "Live the Moment for God"

Our design for the Church's Crest with the inscription: "Live the Moment for God," was created shortly after the renovation which took place between 2006 - 2007.  The four symbolic representations are meant to explain the foundation of the parish as well as the spirit of its patroness: St. Rose of Lima (Peru).  Note the Celtic Cross with the clover leaf - that reminds us of the first parishioners for which the parish was founded (Irish Immigrants).  To the left of the cross (also a remembrance of the Passion of the Lord) you see a crown of thorns with two roses beneath it.  While remembering the passion of Christ (symbolized with the thorns), this crown was also part of St. Rose's life, for she wore (unseen beneath her veil) a type of crown of thorns.  The roses are reminders that the Church was named for St. Rose - yesterday and today.  At the bottom of the Crest is the anchor expressing Hope because St. Rose was a model of hope for the poor of Lima, Peru.  "Live the Moment for God" expresses her undying efforts to encounter the Lord, daily.
